Promises

Knowing Answers

Call to me, and I will answer, telling you great and inaccessible things, which you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3

Is this promise just for Jeremiah? No, it is for all of God’s people. The promise is part of a word from God that comes to Jeremiah, part of the message he must give to the people. The Lord does not hide from his people what he wants them to know. He does not want us to live in the dark. But we must seek his direction in order to walk in the light: “Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Eternal understand all things.” Access to the information superhighway pales in comparison to the access we have to the Fountain of all knowledge. We call to “the Eternal who made the earth, the Eternal who formed it to establish it. the Eternal is his name.” We may not receive information of the same caliber as the prophet. We may not hear a voice or have a vision. But the One who holds the secrets of the universe in his mind is accessible to us. The One who “was and is and is to come” communicates with the finite, the uninformed, and the floundering. He is the One who freely “gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

Omniscient Lord, remove the proud fear I have of asking for knowledge that is beyond my ability to ferret out on my own. Amaze me with the joy of what you know and I need through Jesus, who is the treasure chest of wisdom and knowledge.
