Father’s Day 2016

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but raise them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4

Back in 1970 Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young presented he world with mind-sticking tune: “Teach Your Children Well.” For Father’s Day 2016, here’s my rewrite of their lyrics. You know the tune; don’t be afraid to sing along:

You who are on the road
Must have a code that you can live by,
And so become the ones
The children need, the ones they stand by.

Teach your children well,
Their love compel, for it will not die;
And feed them on the truth
So they will live against the great lie.

You must always ask them why, even if it makes them cry;
Then you can look them in the eye and know they love you.

And you, of tender years,
Don’t know the fears that your elders grew by,
They need your strength and youth,
To love the truth, so that they won’t die.

Counter Melody To Above Verse:
Can you hear and do you care and
Can’t you see we must be free to
Teach your children what you believe in.
Make a world that we can live in.

Teach your parents well,
Their love will swell as you slowly grow by;
And feed them on your dreams
Your future hopes will be what you’re known by.

You must always ask them why, even if it makes them cry;
Then you can look them in the eye and know they love you
